Rainy River is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and competes in the Minnesota Community College Conference. Our teams have earned berths in state, regional, and national competitions.

Mel was named Minnesota Community College Coach of the Year in 1996, 2001 and 2002. In 2002, she was also named Region 13-B and District D Coach of the Year.

Evan Amdahl

Amdahl was the offensive coordinator for the RRCC football team that ended 6-3 and made the MCCC state tournament appearance for the first time in school history. Hockey will be the seventh sport that Evan has coached in his coaching career.

Koenig earned an undergraduate degree in physical education and coach from Winona State University. He also holds a master's degree in athletic administration and has coached baseball at the University of Minnesota and at Falls High School.
