Associate in Science Degree: Mathematics Education
The Associate of Science degree in Mathematics Education transfers seamlessly to Bemidji State University. Once at BSU, you will complete a major in Mathematics, along with the Education degree requirements.
At RRCC you will also enroll in Science & Math Education Seminar courses, where principles and methods of teaching are introduced. The seminar courses also include a teaching experience in a high school classroom.
Our program plan ensures you will complete the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) while attending RRCC, which will transfer to any four-year college in the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system.

AA with Science or Math Emphasis
For students who aren't sure if they want to become a teacher, the A.A. option with science or math emphasis will prepare you for your choice of science or math majors and, for students receiving an SME scholarship, offer a chance to learn more about and try teaching to see if you might like it.
The A.A. degree transfers to all Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.
Science: A.A. with Science students will take their choice of science courses from the Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics departments, and/or Physical Geology. At least one science course will be taken every semester.
Math: A.A. with Math students will begin a math sequence dependent upon STAR testing placement, and must take two math courses at a level of 2000 or higher.
Science & Math: All students receiving SME scholarships will complete three 1-credit seminar courses that introduce students to teaching theory and methods, and include a chance to try teaching at a high school.
Please view the SME program and scholarship information packet at the link above for more details and requirements.
