SCIENCE ASSOCIATE IN SCIENCE (AS) DEGREE WITH MTC
2008 – 2010
Our Science AS Degree with MTC degree is specifically designed for you if you are interested in teaching science and can be used toward a grade 5 - 8 science licensure, or as a pre-requisite for secondary-level licensure. This degree has guaranteed transfer to Bemidji State University toward the science education licensure programs, and includes the complete Minnesota Transfer Curriculum in satisfaction of all lower division requirements. To be eligible for graduation with the Science AS Degree with MTC, you must satisfy the following requirements:
==> Must complete the 40 credits of the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MTC) with a 2.0 GPA; as well as the additional Associate in Science (AS) requirements to equal 60 credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 for all courses completed.

BIOL 1010 5 cr. General Biology I with Lab (BSU BIOL 1210)
BIOL 1020 5 cr. *General Biology II with Lab [10] (BSU BIOL 1220)
CHEM 1090 5 cr. *Principles of Chemistry I with Lab (BSU CHEM 1111)
CHEM 1100 5 cr. *Principles of Chemistry II with Lab (BSU CHEM 1112)
NSCI 1310 4 cr. Physical Geology with Lab (BSU GEOL 1110)
PHYS 1100 *4 cr. *Principles of Physics I with Lab (BSU PHYS 1101) HLTH 2000 2 cr.
Chemical Abuse Education (BSU HLTH 3400) * PHYS 1110 will only be offered with sufficient enrollment. Additional credits to total 60 and satisfy the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum Goals 1 through 10.
NOTES:
* This degree articulates to the Science Bachelor of Science Degree (Science Teaching Program) at Bemidji State University (BSU).
* Students unsure about pursuing a career in science education are encouraged to complete RRCC’s Associate in Arts degree.
* Students interested in teaching science at the secondary level may be able to complete more coursework at RRCC that will apply toward the secondary licensure requirements. If interested in this option, please see your advisor.
