Transfer Admission

RAINY RIVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE
TRANSFER STUDENT ADMISSION
If you have previously earned credits from another college or university, you are eligible to apply for admission to Rainy River Community College.

If you have transferred to RRCC from another accredited institution, you must request an official transcript from the previously attended institution(s) and have it sent to the Admissions/Registration Office at RRCC.  Your transcripts will be evaluated to determine how credits will transfer and you will receive a copy of this evaluation.  Lower division credits earned at a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association may be accepted as equivalent courses, or as electives, as determined by Rainy River Community College’s transfer specialist.  General education, general studies, and elective credits have no transfer time limit.

Occupational course credits earned more than five years prior to the time of request will not be accepted for transfer.  A maximum of 16 semester credits will be considered for transfer from technical colleges.  Grades from another institution are not used in computing a student’s grade point average at RRCC.  Courses numbered below 1000 will not be considered for transfer, however they may be considered as fulfilling prerequisites.  Students may appeal the transfer credit evaluation by filing a petition with the Petition Committee.

All college courses in which you earned a grade of A, B, C, or D are to be considered for transfer evaluation.  P grades shall be accepted as earned credit.  If your cumulative GPA at the originating institution is less than 2.0, no D grades will be accepted in transfer from that school.

MnTransfer (www.mntransfer.org) is Minnesota’s official guide to transfer and offers transfer information to students, parents, and educators.  Students thinking of transfer can check the course equivalence tables to see which of their courses are accepted at their transfer college.  This cooperative Web site is sponsored by Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, private colleges, and the University of Minnesota.
