NEWS: Signed National Letter of Intent (NLI). Joey Hudson- Rainy River Community College (Elk River, Minn.) 6-3, 195 lbs., Pitcher
Joey is in his second season at Rainy River CC in International Falls, Minn. He led his team in appearances (14) last year and pitched six consecutive games without giving up a run. At Elk River High School, Joey won the award for best teammate on the team.
"I am very excited about this early signing class," said Berry. "Coach Jerle and Coach Hampton have worked very hard in filling our needs for the future. I believe we have added some depth to our program, as well as some guys that will come in and make an immediate impact. These young men will represent Northern State very well, both on the field and in the classroom. I know they will help continue the success of Northern State Baseball."
"We are very excited for Joey and our program and to have a player sign during the early signing period! We look forward to him being a big contributor on the mound for us this year," said Coach Koenig.
It's an exciting time to be at Rainy River Community College! 2014-2015 is the sixth year of the Voyageur baseball program. The team is committed to excellence in the classroom, in the community, and on the field. The baseball program is known and respected as a first-class program that cultivates quality students, citizens, leaders, and baseball players. Student-athletes understand the values of hard work, perseverance, honesty, integrity, and teamwork. Rainy River baseball players conduct themselves in a manner that positively reflects the values of our program.
The goal of the program from inception is to be competitive. We are one of the top teams in the MCAC Northern Division, and have created a rich baseball tradition in Northern Minnesota, our conference, and the National Junior College Athletic Association.
We are dedicated as a program to move our players on to 4-year schools and have done so successfully with 18 players going onto 4-year programs in 5 years! (NAIA, NCAA D3, and NCAA D2).
Our athletic facilities include: • Scheela Field • RRCC Gymnasium • Bronco Arena • Weight Room and Fitness Center • Track Facility at Falls High School
RRCC is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC). RRCC competes in the Northern Division with Vermillion, Hibbing, Itasca, Mesabi Range, Northland and Fond Du Lac.
